Leh, Alchi, Nubra Valley, Pongong Lake |
Julay! Dear Mr.Tundup Dorjey and Mr.Kamlesh Lalan ,
My wife and I highly appreciate you for arranging and organizing our tour/travel to Leh-Ladakh in such a meticulous and organized way. The tour has been a most memorable as we could connect with Ladakhi people and their preserved culture. Your advice on high-altitude mountain sickness helped us remain fit through out the tour and get absorbed in natures' marvels at high altitude.
Your personal attention and constant contact with us during the tour ensured that we got best treatment at the places of stay in Leh, Pongong Lake and Nubra valley. The car driver was kind and courteous and exhibited excellent qualities of punctuality and safe driving habit.
We highly appreciate your gift of CD- 101 Moments on Ladakh-endless discoveries. We will visit Leh-Ladakh once again to participate in Hemi’s festival.
We strongly recommend your services to all who intend to visit Leh-Ladakh. Ki Ki So So Lhar-gyalo!

Kashmir and Ladakh in May 2009 |
Hi Tundup,
Sorry for such a late mail. But I was having a manic month. It has been a month since we came back from the trip. I just want to convey my deep thanks for the very well planned trip planned by you. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and will rate it as one of the very best trips we ever had. Except for the few hickups with the flight every thing was just perfect.
I would also like to thank you for the kind of flexibility you have been able to provide with the difficult weather and frequent changes. The motels/resorts you provided were as well very good. I have to mention that the camp at alchi was amazing. It was very refreshing and totally different. The welcome we had at Leh was great. Have to thank Motup for the personnel service provided. The Leh resort was as well cool and very accommodative. The staff was so very helpful there.
Thanks to Lobsang for taking care of us in Leh. It was a very good initiative to meet us on a daily basis at the hotel.
Finally, very big thanks to Sonam, we truly miss him. An amazing guy, never heard a NO from him during the entire trip. Very very helpful. He was always ready for what we want and very good driver. The best of the driver. The only person whom I would say is better than me when it comes to driving. :)
Then as a final guidance, probably, the driver at Kashmir was not great. Cannot even compare him with Sonam. I know that you do not operate directly there. But probably you need to be a lil careful when you select your partners. You guys are doing a great job, Keep it going, I should soon see you growing faster.
Anyway, in case you need any support for your IT needs, let me know. I probably will be able to get you a better deal.
Thanks and Regards |

Chamser Kangri Expeditions - August 2008 |
When I started planning our journey in Ladakh and choose to go with your agency Overland Escape, I had already a good feeling after a few exchanged e-mails.
I must say that this good feeling stayed all the time we were in Ladakh. With your help and the help of all the members of your staff, especially our guide mister Tsering Namgyal, we had a wonderfull time in Ladakh !
Although our group was very large (18 persons) the organisation of the very beautiful trekking and the climbing part of the Chamser Kangri, was outstanding!
The food was very good, we had good tents and the helpers were all very helpful and very friendly people.
Also the last part of our journey of 31 days was well organised by you: 2 days bij jeeps from Rumtse to Manali and then bij good airco coach bus to Dharamsala, Amritsar and back to Delhi: it was sometimes tiring, but we will never forget the beautiful scenery along the way !
It is very likely we will come back within a few years and you may be sure that we will again contact your very reliable agency !
Please do find hereby a selection of photo's taken by the group and the exepdition report I send to IMF a few days ago.
With my very best regards |

Leh Ladakh - 19 June 2008 |
Our trip was even more memorable and enjoyable because of the facilities that Overland Escape provided us.Mr. Tunduk Namgyal, who drove us in and around Leh Ladakh , was very well versed with the roads, had an excellent idea about the climate and all the information & history about the places we visited.
Overland provided us excellent hotel arrangements and made sure our trip was one of the best ever.... |

Ladakh Expedition, March 29 to April 22, 2007 |
This was a hugely successful expedition. Feedback from parents during this last week has been wholeheartedly positive and has expressed a lot of gratitude for the wonderful opportunity we gave to the pupil participants.
Maybe I should start with a few short quotes from participants:
“I have seen and experienced things that I am certain I shall never forget.”
“This trip will stay with me for the rest of my life”
“This incredible trip was a once-in a lifetime chance and I have enjoyed every moment of it”.
“This trip was the most amazing experience of my life”
I will certainly never forget the experiences, the views and the comradeship that I have enjoyed”.
The Transport went very smoothly throughout. The flights were efficient and on time. Ladakh flights are, of course, dependent on weather conditions, but we managed to get to our destination reasonably on time in both directions. Local transport had been very efficiently organised by Tundup Dorjey, who leads “Overland Escape”, the local outfit we used.
The cultural programme in Ladakh was very successful, at least partly due to an excellent guide, who could really give us insight into the Ladakhi way of life and its religious background. The Ladakhi cultural evening with songs and traditional dances on our last evening in Leh was also really appreciated.
The trek was brilliantly organised by Tundup, the guide and support team were excellent and we were really well looked after throughout.
Food was of a very high quality both in the Lotus Hotel in Leh and during the trek. As a consequence, there were only a few cases of (thankfully short-term) sickness.
Very importantly, the weather was very kind to us. After some snow on our first day in Leh, the weather cleared and for 10 days on the trek it was absolutely brilliant. As we had clear sunshine on all high days on the trek, the views and the light were absolutely stunning. When there was some rain and more cloud on the last day of the trek, it did not matter to us anymore, as we just had an easy route to complete.
Thankfully, we did not need the satellite phone during this expedition, but it provided a safety net just in case.
We knew that altitude sickness was a potentially high risk and took every precaution possible. We had built in a long acclimatisation period in Leh before starting the trek and once on the trek ascended very slowly before we reached the highest pass. A number of pupils suffered mild symptoms of altitude sickness on the first two days in Leh, but quickly recovered. Rory Gascoigne was taken to hospital to receive oxygen in order to help his acclimatisation process and subsequently managed to complete the trek without any further difficulties.
Choice of destination: Ladakh proved an extremely popular destination with all participants due to the immense opportunities it offers with regard to its culture and its mountain challenges, which are just appropriate for a group like ours. The experience of the region I brought to the expedition was also a very important safety factor and it enabled us to devise a relevant and valuable programme throughout.
It is quite amazing, in a way, that on an expedition of this magnitude there was not a single injury. This was at least partly due to the excellent discipline within the group.
The staff team worked extremely hard, supported each other well and got on very well with each other. They had prepared the group well for the EFL teaching at Druk Pema, they entertained the students positively after arriving at campsites during the trek, and formed good positive relationships with the participants.
Future expeditions: I have already made tentative plans for the next expedition in April 2009. Ladakh is an ideal destination, and the fact that we have an excellent support team there (Tundup Dorjey and Overland Escape) together with our educational connections with White Lotus School guarantee the educational value of an expedition there. |
